The goal of our Student Program is to develop the leaders of tomorrow by providing meaningful work experiences that allow students to gain valuable industry knowledge from all levels of the organization. The Students will have the opportunity to grow their professional network, give back to the community, and gain real world skills that will enhance their knowledge applicable to their studies.

 

Interested?

The student will work at our GWT Wink, TX Terminal maintenance/pipeline department completing equipment checks and terminal maintenance, painting, cleaning, lawn and weed control, and will always work in a safe manner. The student will also have the opportunity to learn about Gibson Energy's Operations Management System (OMS) and will be involved in the documentation function relating to OMS. 

 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ensures personal safety and follow safe operating procedures for facility.
  • Maintains current safety training and certification.
  • Familiar with and follows all Gibson's EH&S manuals and policies.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards.
  • Demonstrates competency and follow maintenance procedures.
  • Completes general upkeep, routine, and regularly scheduled maintenance of facilities.
  • Reports problems to Supervisor promptly and accurately. 
  • Performs routine building maintenance.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures. 
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

 

What You'll Bring 

  • 2023 High School Graduate 
  • Basic MS Excel and Word skills.
  • Has strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge or previous summer work experience in the petroleum industry would be an asset.
  • A motivated team player, capable of managing several concurrent and varied projects.
  • A quick learner who approaches all projects with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Works well independently and work with minimal supervision.
  • Works with external and internal customers in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Willing to work in and contribute to a team environment.

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Required skills include the ability to lift, carry and pull up to 50 lbs, effectively work at heights, climb stairs and ladders frequently and walk for 50-60% of the shift which may include walking on uneven surfaces.
  • As this job is considered safety sensitive, it is subject to pre-employment drug testing as outlined in Gibson Energy's Drug & Alcohol policy.
