This position supports the safe and efficient operation of the crude unit and pumping and shipping areas of the Moose Jaw Refinery.  It will also provide operational support for projects, commissioning, and startup if required.

 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Reports to the Operations Shift Supervisor.
  • Monitor the operation of all-relevant tanks, exchangers, heaters, pumps, mixers, truck and rail loading systems, piping, valves, etc.
  • Complete all LOTO activities to safely perform maintenance and servicing of equipment when required.
  • Participate in project HAZOPs and provide support to project teams as required.
  • Provide operational support and input through all phases of growth projects if applicable.
  • Review/perform operational activities pertaining to Operational Readiness and Commissioning/Start-up relevant to the Pumping and Shipping Department and Crude Unit if applicable.
  • Complete Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR) at turnover on behalf of facility management.
  • Act as liaison for Operations on project teams.
  • Complete proper and thorough shift handover process.
  • Perform duties consistent with Gibson’s Values and Principles.
  • Adhere to Company Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
  • Completion of Operator Training Program (Phase Training) within the required timelines.
  • To represent the Company in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

 

What You'll Bring

  • 4th class power engineering certification and valid license required.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Five (5+) years experience in Refinery operations is preferred.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment while independently managing multiple and competing priorities under minimal supervision in a shift environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • This is a 6 month fixed term role.
  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • This position requires physical mobility and able to perform duties in a confined space and/or in the vicinity of dangerous goods.
  • This position requires employees to wear appropriate PPE as required by the company’s safety policies and as required for weather conditions.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces as well as climb ladders and stairs.
  • Standing and/or sitting for long periods.
