Interested?
The student will work at our Moose Jaw Refinery maintenance department, assisting with various maintenance tasks, painting, cleaning, lawn and weed control, and will work in a safe manner at all times. The student will also provide documentation support for the maintenance department staff.
What You'll Be Doing
- Ensures personal safety and follows safe operating procedures for the facility.
- Maintains current safety training and certification.
- Is familiar with and follows all safety manuals and policies.
- Ensures adherence to quality standards.
- Demonstrates competency and follows maintenance procedures.
- Completes general upkeep, routine, and regularly scheduled maintenance of facilities.
- Reports problems to Supervisor.
- Performs routine building maintenance.
- Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team, or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
- Strong MS Excel and Word skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Familiar with tools and equipment used in maintenance.
- Must be familiar with the operation, location, and requirements of safety equipment.
- Strong work ethic and responsible for the work performed.
- A motivated team player, capable of managing several concurrent and varied projects.
- A quick learner who approaches all projects with a sense of urgency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Work well independently and with minimal supervision.
- Work with external and internal customers in a courteous and timely manner.
- Willing to work in and contribute to a team environment.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- This position includes operating a company vehicle, the selected candidate will be required to provide a minimum 3-year Driver's Abstract.
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces as well as climb ladders and stairs.
- Standing and sitting for frequent periods with some driving on uneven surfaces required.
- Frequent bending and twisting is required as is prolonged neck positioning.
- Occasional crouching and kneeling.
- Frequent upper extremity movements (elbows, forearm, wrist, handgrip) with some upper shoulder movements.
- Lifting up to 50lbs.
- Pushing up to 50lbs with some carrying up to 25lbs.
