The Role
Reporting to the Manager EH&S Field Support, the Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Advisor provides health and safety support to Gibson Energy at their designated location. The EH&S Advisor provides technical and functional EH&S expertise, acts as champion for the implementation of Health and Safety processes at Gibson Energy. Success in this role requires the ability to influence and lead others through a firm understanding of health and safety fundamentals.
Relocation assistance will be provided to the selected candidate for the role if relocation to Moose Jaw or surrounding area is applicable.
What You Will Do
- Provides leadership, direction and expertise toward the implementation and verification of Health and Safety Management programs.
- Acts as coach/mentor/resource for leading EH&S issues to operations, construction, engineering and projects.
- Monitors safe work practices and behaviors of employees and contractors.
- Monitors field staff to ensure they are current with all assigned training requirements.
- Conducts and provides guidance related to inspections and audits including the development of action plans.
- Responds to incidents when required.
- Facilitates incident investigations to identify true root causation and meaningful/measurable actions.
- Ensures that EH&S systems, processes, programs, tools and controls are applied consistently throughout the organization across the business units.
- Participates in the development of standards, procedures, and practices and provides in- field coaching and training to personnel.
- Makes recommendations for improvements to procedures and practices.
- Ensures employees are in compliance with policies, procedures and practices.
- Conducts, participates and audits tail gate meetings field level audits as required.
- Coordinates emergency response exercises in collaboration with EH&S Specialist, Emergency Response.
- Acts as initial site liaison for regulatory bodies (AER, OH&S, etc.).
- Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring to the Role
- Completion of High School (or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of related field operations experience.
- Experience working in a health and safety environment for an energy, utility, and/or construction sectors.
- Professional accreditations (CSP, CRSP, NCSO, CHSC, etc.) preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers licence.
- Professional Trade experience preferred.
- Exhibits a passion for safety excellence.
- Must possess a demonstrate a track record of formal incident investigations training and practice.
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills with a sound understanding of root cause analysis Demonstrates strong technical skills regarding field operations, construction, projects, and engineering.
- Proven self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude.
- Possesses experience and knowledge in the handling and logistics of petroleum products.
- Strong ability to coordinate workload to achieve the most effective use of time.
- Demonstrates strong ability to build relationships with internal and external clients.
- Ability to function in high energy environment with reliability and flexibility.
- Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office Suite, EHS reporting technology (I.e. ISN, SAP, Maximo etc.)
- Demonstrates competency in Emergency Response planning and support, Incident Command System (ICS) and related areas.
Working Conditions
- Majority of the work is performed at Gibson Energy locations.
- Working in outdoor industrial environment is required.
- Rotational on call requirements.

The acquisition strengthens Gibson's cash flow with over 95% of the revenue under take-or-pay contracts with high-quality counterparties.
