The person in this position is responsible to complete work assignments as issued. As an important part of the maintenance team you will ensure work is completed as assigned in order to facilitate a safe reliable plant operation.

 

What You'll Be Doing

Maintenance Millwright/Industrial Mechanic: Responsible for the reliable operation of the plant through completion of work assignments as provided by the Maintenance/Loss Control Manager: 

  • Will report to the Maintenance/Loss Control Manager for all aspects concerning the duties assigned. 
  • Possess knowledge of and be capable of performing repairs to reciprocating and centrifugal equipment including, but not limited to, compressors, turbines, mixers, reciprocating drivers, positive displacement pumps and centrifugal pumps. Work in the area shall include equipment overhaul, equipment alignment, scraping and shimming bearings, replacing and repairing antifriction bearings and mechanical seals, installing new equipment, replacing and repairing compressor valves, fitting piston rings, small bore pipefitting and compression fitting, etc. 
  • Have or develop a good understanding of the machine shop operations of drilling, reaming, threading, tapping, fitting, broaching and the operation of machine tools such as lathes, drills, grinders and milling attachments. 
  • Regularly inspect and make minor repairs to the fire truck, to ensure operability at all times and will make any recommendations as to major repairs. 
  • Be capable of repairing and setting relief valves, governors and steam slide valves. 
  • Monitor pump vibration and update program on a regular basis. 
  • Cooperate with all supervisory staff to ensure that assignments are completed as required. 
  • May be required to clean areas on an "as needed basis". 
  • Operate heavy equipment as required, safely and efficiently when time allows. 

 

Maintain Equipment and Facilities: Responsible for the day-to-day up keep of tools and equipment used in completing your daily tasks: 

  • Must be capable of performing necessary repairs to equipment related to the position. 
  • Perform clean up duties in conjunction with other jobs in progress in all plant areas. 
  • Keep the Machine shop area organized and clean at all times. 

 

Safety and Environment: Responsible for working safely and ensuring the safety of others and report any incidents to his supervisor and record as required: 

  • In the event of a fire or emergency, your responsibilities will be in accordance with section 9 of the plant fire or disaster control organization manual. 
  • Must be familiar with the operation, location and requirements of safety equipment and have a good knowledge of occupational hazards related to your duties. 
  • Complete lockout and tagging on all equipment as per procedures. 
  • Endeavor to prevent environmental releases and will report all spills and see that they are cleaned up in a timely fashion should they occur. 

 

Note: The Millwright/Industrial Mechanic will perform any other duties within the maintenance department, as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

 

  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures. 
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

 

What You'll Bring

  • Journeyperson Millwright Ticket.
  • Must possess a minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Become familiar with and become proficient in the use of a vibration analyzer.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the proper use of tools, and equipment used to perform work assignments.
  • Proficient in the use of business software.
  • Must be capable of reading blueprints and associated informational documents as would be necessary to perform his/her work properly.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • This position requires physical mobility and able to perform duties in a confined space and/or in the vicinity of dangerous goods.
  • This job can be required to sit, stand or drive for extended periods of time, as well as, bending, stooping, twisting and walking along broken or uneven surfaces.  This position may require walking under, around or in-between pipes, and might require stepping or climbing over pipe from time to time; this also includes, climbing stairs or ladders or platform in excess of 50 feet.  This position requires being around the presence of crude oil and its constituents.  From time to time, this position may be required to lift tools or equipment in excess of 45 pounds.
