The Company

Gibson Energy Inc. (“Gibson” or the “Company”) is a diversified North American energy infrastructure platform underpinned by high quality terminal assets. With 25 million barrels of storage and over 300 miles of crude pipelines across North America, Gibson helps create value for its customers while generating stable, long-term cash flow.

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta and publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX:GEI), Gibson has an approximate market capitalization of $4 billion, and has provided market access to leading oil and gas industry participants for over 70 years. The Company has grown its business by diversifying its service offerings to meet customers’ needs and has expanded geographically to provide its service offerings to key hydrocarbon producing regions throughout the United States to position itself as a North American energy infrastructure company.

Looking specifically at its US presence, with the acquisition of the Gateway Terminal in Ingleside Texas, the Company has positioned itself to be a key player in crude export.

Gibson’s competitive advantage is attributed to a range of factors, including its strategic geographic presence in some of the world's most hydrocarbon-rich basins and its established footholds in key market hubs. This strategic positioning allows Gibson to capture value along the entire energy value chain. The Company also leverages its diverse, integrated, and synergistic service offerings. Gibson has a proven history of sourcing and effectively executing internal growth projects, as well as successfully sourcing, executing, and integrating business acquisitions. Backed by experienced management with a strong operational history and industry reputation, Gibson maintains its competitive edge, supported by cautious risk management policies.

Gibson’s principal business consists of storage, optimization, processing and gathering of crude oil and refined products. The Company operates through two integrated segments:

  • Infrastructure includes a network of infrastructure assets that includes terminals, marine loading, rail loading and unloading facilities, gathering pipelines, a diluent recovery unit and a crude oil processing facility. The primary facilities within this segment include the Hardisty, Edmonton and Ingleside Terminal, gathering pipelines connected to the Hardisty Terminal, gathering pipelines located in the United States and a crude oil processing facility in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
  • Marketing involves the purchasing, selling, storing and optimizing of hydrocarbon products as part of supplying the Moose Jaw Facility and marketing its refined products, as well as part of supplying and driving volumes through the Company’s key infrastructure assets.

US Assets

Our US Pipelines and Operations expand the company’s infrastructure footprint and establish a platform for long-term growth in the US.

Gibson operates two (2) gathering systems in the US, Pyote East and Pyote West. We have a network of trunk lines that facilitate the transportation of crude oil to and from the Gibson Wink Terminal.

The Gibson Wink Terminal is strategically located at one of the central hubs in the Delaware Basin and can deliver crude oil to multiple egress pipelines from the Permian Basin to the US Gulf Coast, and other aggregation points in the US.

The Gateway Terminal is a world-class liquids terminal and export facility located in Ingleside, Texas. The terminal is one of only two Texas Gulf Coast terminals with very large crude carrier (VLCC) capabilities and direct pipeline connections to the prolific Permian and Eagle Ford basins. This strategic acquisition strengthens Gibson’s cash flow with >95% of the revenue under take-or-pay contracts with investment grade or high-quality counterparties who are existing customers of Gibson.

This latest addition to Gibson’s operations amplifies Gibson’s high-quality infrastructure revenues and bolsters the continued growth of the Company’s distributable cash flow per share. The increase  of 1 million barrels per day of export capacity and nearly 9 million barrels of terminals storage in a highly strategic location furthers Gibson’s momentum in growing the Company’s infrastructure footprint and provides a platform for future growth with existing and new customers.
