The Role
Reporting to the Senior Supervisor Project Controls, the Project Controls Specialist provides Scheduling, Cost & Estimating support to project ranging from $2MM to $150MM to the Project Development and Engineering team.
What You Will Do
- Costs control, monitoring, tracking & reporting for assigned suite of projects including consolidated project cost incurred, forecast, progress measurement, contingency draw down, project change log management, cash flow curves, cost and schedule variance, and overall project stewardship.
- Prepares and establish cost baseline for projects for AFE preparation and submission.
- Identifies budget variances and forecast changes and highlights the same to facilitate month end cost discussion.
- Manages periodic reporting requirements including content, format and frequency with Engineering consultants and Procurement /construction vendors for timely reporting.
- Leads and facilitate project planning with project team to build robust schedule and achieve team ‘buy-in’.
- Prepares and establish baseline schedule in conjunction with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Team Members as well as other stakeholders.
- Identifies schedule delays, impacts and variances to the baseline.
- Suggests methods to improve project plan and mitigate schedule slippage.
- Develops / creates / calculates metrics for comparison and benchmarking.
- Archives and maintains benchmarking data and project cost / schedule information.
- Assist in project AFE closeout process.
- Supports development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of standards, processes, and procedures under Gibson Energy’s Asset Delivery Framework.
- Applies project controls best practices for providing timely and quality project health information to stakeholders for better decision making
- Assists department with special projects and events as required.
- Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Certified Cost Engineer, Accounting Designation or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on project controls experience (Planning & Scheduling, Cost Control &/or Estimating) in oil and gas gathering, processing, pipeline and/or terminal facilities with EP, EPCM, Contractor and/or Owner companies.
- Strong proficiency in Primavera, MS Project & Excel is a must.
