Reporting to the SVP Corporate Development, Marketing & Strategy, the Senior Manager Corporate Development & Strategy will support a broad suite of functions within the Finance group including detailed financial modelling and analysis, economic evaluations and projections, preparation of internal and external presentations, tracking and analyzing key industry, capital markets and business metrics as well as evaluating business opportunities in both Canada & the United States.

 

What You'll Be Doing 

  • Aligned with the Gibson Way Company Values is responsible for developing and mentoring Corporate Finance team members, and providing guidance and direction for the overall group, including:
    • Managing performance of individuals to achieve results.
    • Building a collaborative, innovative team to exceed customer expectations (internal and external).
    • Communicating the Company’s vision and strategy in relatable terms.
    • Creating an environment of engagement for team members to produce high quality services.  
  • Executes business disposition activities including offering positioning, data room and financial forecast preparation, discussion with interested parties and supporting de-integration activities.
  • Leads the preparation and facilitates the review of the monthly scorecard and forecasting process, as well as the development of materials for the company’s strategy, planning and budgeting cycle. 
  • Develops, maintains and improves the financial models and databases required to support various finance initiatives.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.  
  • May perform other duties as assigned. 

 

What You'll Bring 

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a preference for a Finance or Economics major.
  • 10-15 years of related experience with a majority of experience in the area of investment banking, capital markets and/or corporate finance/planning.
  • Completion of a related professional designation is required, with a preference for CFA, CBV, and / or CPA designation(s).
  • Strong financial modelling and economic evaluation skills.
  • Superior teamwork and leadership skills that are complimented with the ability to work autonomously on projects and initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in a role with regular internal/external communication.
  • Demonstrates exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Exceptional level of motivation and ability to work hard, with a focus on quality of work and attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant industry trends and market issues.

 

Working Conditions

  • The majority of the work is performed in an office environment; some travel may be required within Canada and the US.
