Job Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Supervisor Maintenance Projects, the Project Manager will execute Sustaining capital construction projects at Gibson Energy facilities in Hardisty, Edmonton and Moose Jaw to support the continuation of safe and reliable operations and regulatory compliance as an integral part of the project execution team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manages all aspects of assigned project portfolio to ensure excellence in EH&S performance, cost, schedule, quality, and technical delivery.
- Develops and fosters strong, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Operations, Operations Engineering, Maintenance, other Project Managers, Engineering and Construction contractors, etc.).
- Ensures collaborative integration of project activities through all project phases from initiation, through design, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
- Coordinates, challenges, and directs the project execution and technical decisions of the Engineering and Construction contractors assigned to the projects.
- Promotes “right-sized” engineering design, creative and pragmatic solutions, and consistency through engineering design principles and expertise.
- Resolves and documents technical issues through facilitation of technical discussions and stakeholder reviews.
- Recognizes and integrates multidisciplinary and cross-functional stakeholder inputs to develop solutions to complex challenges to meet business objectives.
- Minimizes risks through early identification, planning, and proactive project management practices.
- Ensures project documentation is managed in accordance with Gibson Asset Information Management standards.
- Ensures all projects are executed in compliance with the applicable regulations and standards and executed in compliance with Gibson Energy’s Asset Delivery Framework (ADF).
- Acts as a resource for team members with less experience; may lead teams or projects with broad visibility.
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of work processes in support of Gibson Energy’s Operations Management System (OMS).
- Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation in good standing are required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in development, design and construction of petrochemical/oil and gas facilities, major crude oil terminals and pipelines, and/or NGL/refined product storage and handling facilities, preferably in capital maintenance related roles.
- Experience in a dual Project Engineering and Project Management role would be an asset.
- Demonstrates excellence in project planning, scope, cost and schedule management, risk management, document management, project reporting and communication.
- Thrives in fast paced environments, with multiple competing priorities, supporting in parallel, the needs of several different assets.
- Demonstrates excellence in spoken and written communication.
- Highly collaborative, ensuring active and timely engagement with multiple stakeholders from different assets and functions.
- Has a proven track record of developing effective relationships with operations teams through proactive understanding of operational needs and challenges.
- Demonstrates depth and/or breadth of expertise in areas of engineering design and project management.
- Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, products, or service improvements.
- Has the ability to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.
- Self-starter and problem solver, with demonstrated initiative and active engagement in finding opportunities to collaboratively improve project delivery practices and capabilities.
- Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
Working Conditions
- This is an office based position with travel to project site locations required up to 25% of the time.
- When employees on site, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions.
