The Role
The Marketing Analyst will be responsible for the modeling and analysis used to optimize Gibson assets that the Supply and Trading group utilizes. This includes, but is not limited to, gathering, identifying, and evaluating all data relevant to utilizing the Gibson infrastructure to create value in the Canadian Crude and NGL environment. The Marketing Analyst will work cross-functionally across the Marketing team to provide analytical support for Fundamental analysis, and P&L forecasting.
What You Will Do
- Generate/facilitate the execution of strategies across the Gibson Marketing assets which include, but are not limited to, Gibson crude tanks and various pipeline receipt and delivery points.
- Consistently evaluate marketing strategies against alternative options given changing market conditions in real time.
- Align Marketing priorities with Scheduling, Gibson's Operations, Facility teams and other Commercial stakeholders to evaluate and execute current, future, and theoretical strategies.
- Problem solve, and work across teams to identify inefficiencies and incremental value.
- Assist Trader requests in building any analysis sensitivities on an ad hoc basis.
- Curate and maintain current information regarding crude qualities, external pipeline/infrastructure specifications, timing and schedule of product receipts/deliveries to ensure analysis can be run in real time.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly optimization reports and presentations for the Marketing team. Reports will include summarization of analysis that relate to prompt asset/trading needs as well as forward look on major inflection points in the market.
- Run sensitivity analysis for all reports and presentations given market information.
- Provide cross-functional support to the on Fundamental market analysis and P&L forecasting
- Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- University degree in Commerce, Economics, Computer Science, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
- A professional designation would be considered an asset.
- 3+ years of energy marketing experience, knowledge in crude oil pricing, scheduling, risk, and/or analytics preferred.
- Exhibits strong knowledge of pipelines, terminals, and macro market dynamic.
- Demonstrates proficiency in database and spreadsheet software applications.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Ability to build and leverage relationships across the organization
- Demonstrates knowledge of crude oil/condensate pricing, transportation, and commodity futures markets.
- Exhibits an understanding of Canadian crude environment and market drivers.
- Ability to operate and thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office systems.
- Demonstrates proficiency in automation, coding to create better efficiencies.
- Ability to conduct accurate analysis and drive high levels of performance.
- Exhibits strong analytical, interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to provide meaningful information to trading so they can make timely decisions.
- Ability to be self-motivated and take initiative.
