THE ROLE

The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a hands-on leader responsible for delivering accurate forecasts, performance insights, and decision-ready financial insights across Gibson’s Infrastructure and Marketing businesses. Reporting to the VP Finance, this role leads a small team of senior analysts, while remaining accountable for financial models, forecasting, and management reporting. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Aligns with the Gibson Way values and is responsible for developing and mentoring team members, and providing guidance and direction for the overall group, including:
    • Manages performance of individuals to achieve results.
    • Builds a collaborative, high performing team to exceed customer expectations (internal and external).
    • Creates an environment of engagement for team members to produce high quality services. 

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Modeling

  • Own and maintain driver‑based financial models for volumes, utilization, margins, operating costs, capital, and cash flow.
  • Lead rolling 12-18 month forecasts and annual budget processes by segment.
  • Prepare downside, upside, and sensitivity scenarios to support risk management.
  • Maintain a documented forecast assumptions register with clear change tracking.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Produce monthly and quarterly management performance packages.
  • Partner with Accounting to reconcile management results to reported financials.
  • Translate results into concise insights, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by proactively surfacing insights, risks, and opportunities impacting performance and outlook.
  • Support strategic initiatives (e.g., growth projects, integrations, commercial initiatives) through hands‑on financial analysis and performance tracking.

Partnership & Decision Support

  • Act as the primary FP&A partner to Operations and Commercial teams. Develop deep understanding of the Marketing and Infrastructure business to assist in developing 12-18 month forecasting model
  • Coordinate closely with Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and other Finance teams to ensure consistency between actual results, management reporting, and planning outputs.
  • Deliver ad‑hoc analysis for senior leadership and executive forums.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Professional designation (CPA, CFA) is an asset.
  • 10+ years progressive finance experience, including leading a meaningful FP&A, forecasting, and performance management responsibility.
  • Prior people leadership experience (direct or matrix) with demonstrated coaching and capability building.
  • Experience in energy, midstream, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive industry is an asset
  • Experience modernizing or transforming audit and risk functions.
  • Strong systems aptitude; experience with D365, Power BI, Workday, Right Angle, and planning/reporting tools is an asset.

This terminal is a world-class liquids terminal and export facility with very large crude carrier (VLCC) capabilities and direct pipeline connections to key basins like the Permian and Eagle Ford. The acquisition strengthens Gibson's cash flow with over 95% of the revenue under take-or-pay contracts with high-quality counterparties.
