Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Program

The EIT Program at Gibson Energy will provide you with an opportunity to gain valuable and well-rounded technical experience and leadership skills during the four one-year long rotations through the roles in some of the key functional areas such as Engineering Design, Asset Management, Project Management, Construction, Operations Services, Development Engineering, Project Controls, Health, Safety and Environment and Risk Management.

This 4-year Rotation Program has been thoughtfully designed to give our EITs a supportive and hands on work experience to aid their transition from the classroom into industry. Gibson will support your EIT journey with mentorship and governance over your progress, as well as reimbursement of eligible tuition costs.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
The ideal candidates for the Program will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering
  • Willingness to relocate to various locations in Alberta and Saskatchewan during the program, possibly up to two times
  • Keen interest in developing your technical and leadership skills
  • Eligibility to register with APEGA and/or APEGS

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
EIT's will rotate through 4 work placements, each one year long. Over the course of the program they will: 

  • Gain practical experience and career development
  • Apply theory from school to field work
  • Be supported by mentors and program governance
  • Experience multiple work locations
  • Learn valuable leadership skills 

 

HOW IT WORKS?

  • EIT candidates will choose 4 of 6 placement options upon hire
  • Each placement will be a one-year rotation
  • Minimum of one year must be spent in the field, in either Field Construction or Field Ops. Engineering
